Born in 1983 in the northernmost region of Austria called Waldviertel, Matthias found himself placed into an extremly inspiring landscape with a confusing musical identity (which started to treat him with the beginning of his teenage-years).

While watching their son dreaming about knights and dragons his parents decided to put him into some piano lessons. Matthias spent four years on playing boogies and other weird stuff and never really enjoyed it.

In the first few years at the highschool he changed instruments and started to beat the drums. That worked much better than his classical education although he was lazy and rarely motivated to practice what he was told by his teacher (who was the great drummer Bernd Rommel)

In these days he also improved his knowledge about bands and styles of music. Starting with Rock-stuff like Aerosmith he soon got inspired by more alternative artists as King’s X and Pearl Jam and the harder section (Helmet, Fireside, Far, Hum). To live his dream of being a rock musician he put on his headphones and played the drums to all of his cds.

By the age of 16 the basic wish of writing songs was born. Matthias realized that he had to learn playing guitar to create that kind of music he wants. Soon he got his first western guitar, a brand new washburn. In the meantime he had joined several bands and projects like Loo-kate and Lausch which got completed by his fresh and youthful drumming. (Both bands have released two albums, check out their homepages)

In 2000 Matthias bought his first 8-track digital recorder just to complete his debut album in the same year (MAIS-mr. tapeworm intermits). He sold about 50 pieces of the work and was satisfied.

In 2001 he produced his second album and an e.p. with b-sides under his projects new name Sergeant Pluck himself (to call someone jams o’donnell; panegyric between). Some of the songs on these cds have been performed on Loo-kate gigs. While pushing the Sergeant Pluck-stuff, he worked with new projects called stone was the problem and mr.green, my saviour besides.

After this very creative time Matthias left highschool and went to the university of vienna to study history and geography. In the meantime his collection of music got more individually and song-based. He started loving artist like Daan, Dead Man Ray, Mitsoobishy Jacson, Zita Swoon (the crazy Antwerpen-Gang) as well as singer/songwriter stuff (Kristofer Aström, Jonah Matranga, Mauro Pawlowski, King’s of Convenience, Turin Brakes, Spookey Ruben, Aqualung...) and parts of the dischord and desoto section (Shiner, Fugazi). By the way he’s a great fan of the Dave-Sardy-Sound (producer of barkmarket, helmet, red hot chili peppers, evil superstars, ect.) .

To realize his idea of better sound and working conditions he invested all his money in a new Harddisk-Recorder, a 32-channel mixer, studio monitors, a Les Paul, a second western guitar and a lot of microphones and other stuff.

2004 became another year of great output. Matthias produced the second album of Loo-kate, again played drums for his friend alex from lausch at his home studio and started working on his third solo-cd. the most important innovation at this time was that he got introduced into computer-based recording. a big step into the right direction, of course a chance to enjoy better working conditions. a lot of demos were recorded, songs were written and a great idea was born. in summer 2004 matthias organized the first handmade night, a special concert for songwriters. at the end of the year he finnished sessions for his brothers project mr.green, my saviour. 

In spring 2005 the second handmade night was celebrated and became a great success. Matthias mixed the new mr.green ep and continued working on his new stuff. on the 14th december the new album we are but sometimes have been has been released. Jochen Berger (guitarist from loo-kate, granitarium) joinded the project and played a couple of gigs with Sergeant Pluck. At the same time Matthias joined lausch to play drums at live-gigs. In winter he started preparing a spring-tour and a the official cd-release party. drummer valentin schuster joined the band to increase the power of their live performance.

2006 started with a club tour. Sergeant Pluck played several gigs in Vienna and enjoyed the live-thing. Matthias continued work with lausch and played a lot conercts with this project too. In june he joined his girlfriends band finally on drums. in the meantime a few new songs had been written and recorded. valentin schuster left sergeant pluck for reasons of time and came back in fall. The band continued touring. Matthias founded his own label "LiMuPic" in October and signed 5 bands. In december the first labelnight was organized.

2007 became the year of the band Lausch and the new label LiMuPic. Lausch released their debut in Austria and Germany, Matthias did a lot of promotional work and booking stuff. In fall valentin schuster again left the band and forced Sergeant Pluck into a time out. Matthias played gigs with Lausch and Finally and tried to build up the handmade night project at viennas b72 club.

In 2008 Sergeant Pluck himself found the new drummer Joe Anibas and Matthias started writing songs again. But Joe soon had to take a break due to health issues and the band kept sleeping. Matthias continued the work with Lausch and the label. In September 2008 Lausch jumped overseas and reached top 10 chart postitions on some college radiostations on the eastcoast. Sergeant Pluck got reunited and began rehearsing. Matthias did preproduction for a new album.
